1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using PureNotes ("the Application", "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please discontinue use of the application immediately.

2. Description of the Application

PureNotes is provided as a free, local-first developer notebook and markdown workspace. The application enables users to write notes, organize content into folders, preview formatted Markdown, execute code snippets within client-side sandboxes, encrypt individual notes, and optionally generate public share links.

3. Data Storage, Cache Cleansing & Backup Obligation

Because PureNotes does not require account registration or store your documents in a remote database:

• Client-Side Storage: Your content is stored exclusively within your browser’s storage partitions (localStorage / IndexedDB).
• Browser Cache Clearing: Performing actions such as "Clear Browsing Data", using ephemeral Private/Incognito browsing sessions, or using aggressive automated cleaner extensions will permanently erase all local notes stored on that browser.
• Sole Responsibility: You acknowledge that you bear 100% of the responsibility for preserving and backing up your documents. You should routinely utilize the built-in "Export JSON" backup feature in Settings or "Export Markdown" to save physical copies of your data to your personal file system.

4. Client-Side Encryption Disclaimer

PureNotes offers AES-256 client-side cryptographic locking. The application does not store, transmit, or record your encryption passphrase. In the event that you forget or lose your passphrase, the encrypted note cannot be recovered, cracked, or restored by anyone, including the creators of PureNotes.

5. In-Browser Code Execution

PureNotes includes built-in interactive code execution engines (JavaScript evaluation, Python via Skulpt, and HTML rendering). All code runs exclusively within your personal browser environment. You agree not to execute untrusted scripts or malicious code that may compromise your local device or browser environment.

6. Public Share Links & Acceptable Use

If you voluntarily utilize the "Share Note" feature to publish a document via Cloudflare Pages Functions, you agree not to share content that is unlawful, malicious, harassing, fraudulent, infringing on intellectual property, or containing malware. We reserve the right to remove or purge any shared KV entries that violate these terms or applicable laws.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties ("As Is")

Please read this section carefully:

THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE BUG-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE STORAGE IN YOUR BROWSER WILL NEVER BE SUBJECT TO EVICTION OR CORRUPTION.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE CREATORS, DEVELOPERS, OR MAINTAINERS OF PURENOTES BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF GOODWILL, OR HARDWARE/DEVICE MALFUNCTIONS ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APPLICATION.

9. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of the application following the posting of updated terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
